Jedidiah 'Jed' Campbell was born and raised in the heart of the Ozarks where the wild beauty of the land and its hidden mysteries quickly became his lifelong obsession.
His fascination with the depths of the earth began at an early age when he and his buddies stumbled on a network of tunnels laced with golden veins of shimmering minerals. Jed was crushed when he learned it was nothing but fool’s gold.
As an adult, Jed led a daring expedition of explorers into the tunnels where they discovered a magnificent cavern with glistening ceilings. Convinced they had found a vein of pure marble, or perhaps something even more valuable, the explorers formed the Marvel Cave Mining Company and laid a rail line to begin operations. Not long after, a sudden collapse of a mining tunnel triggered a catastrophic flood, swallowing their efforts and sealing the cavern forever.
Years have faded into memory, but Jed’s spirit has never waned. Time may have etched a few more lines on his face, but Jed is more determined than ever to finish what the company started. He can feel it in his bones—precious minerals still lie hidden in the heart of the cave. The only trouble is, there’s no easy way to navigate the twisting, narrow inner passages. Never willing to accept defeat, Jed has charted a new route…completely above ground!
Heedless of the hazards they may encounter on the long-abandoned tracks, Jed has enlisted guests as fellow miners, inviting them to board Miner's Mountain Express and set out on a scouting mission to find the long-lost cavern. Once it’s located, he plans to build a new tunnel to access the precious stones. And this time, with a little luck, a lot of grit and a train full of willing miners, the dream Jed has been chasing his entire life may finally come true.
